November – Courage

As part of our Values initiative, the value for November is ‘Courage.’

As part of our Values Based Education initiative, during the month of November we shall be studying the value of Courage. Please take a few minutes to visit the school website ( and look at the assembly with your child. We hope that you will be able to use the assembly as a starting point to help you to engage with your child and support their learning in school.

There is an ‘Our Values’ section on the website, under the ‘Our School’ heading where you can access all of the values assemblies and newsletters should you wish to revisit any of the themes.

Having courage means that children will be brave as they meet new experiences, difficult situations or challenges. Demonstrating courage may involve being firm because of strong moral convictions.

Each month class teachers and children will get the chance to nominate a peer in their year group to receive a certificate for demonstrating the value of the month. This has been tremendously successful since launching our values curriculum in September. Children who have been nominated are celebrated in our values assemblies, the newsletter and will receive a School Council designed postcard in the post along with a certificate.

I look forward to celebrating this month’s nominees for demonstrating courage in assembly.
