Free School Meals
We know that there are lots of things for your family to consider when the new school year begins’ but have you and your child decided what they will be having for lunch every day?
School meals will give your child a real appetite for learning and help them to achieve their full potential. Did you know that you child could qualify for free school meals? If your child is eligible it means they can enjoy delicious, healthy meals without the bills and the fuss of of making packed lunches. Many children at our school are already eating free school meals, and your child may be able to have them too.
There is nothing healthier for your child and your family’s budget than free school meals. As professional cooks prepare meals for your child, it saves you having to worry about the effort and expense of making packed lunches every day. With our school catering system you can still choose exactly what your child is eating everyday. (Please see the Dolce catering page for more information).
Your child may be entitled to receive free school meals if you are entitled to receive one of the following:
- Employment and Support Allowance (income related)
- Income Support
- Guaranteed Pension Credit (including Child Tax Credit)
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Support from the National Asylum Support Service.

Universal School Meals
School meals are free for pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Please to see below on how to book your school meal.
School Meals Provided by Dolce Catering
Old Park has its own kitchen run by Dolce Catering. They provide well balanced meals cooked on the premises. Meals are £2.20 a day.
The benefits of using Dolce Catering are as follows:

- You can view all recipes online, including cooking method, nutrition and artificial ingredientsYou can

- Payment method means no hassle finding correct cash
- You can pre-order online for up to a term in one go
- You can you easily track your account online
- Monthly direct statements show you what your child ate
- Pre-ordering your School Meal
First, you need to get yourself a Live Kitchen pre-order account from the school office (we need to know your email address). Then you will receive login details. Once you have logged into your account you will see a home screen with your account balance.
Click onto “Order Meals” at the top of the screen. The “Order meals” page allows you to select which dishes will be served to your child (or children) in the coming weeks. If your child tries to pre-order something different in class, your preference will be preserved, and the dish you choose here will be served to them at lunchtime.
Please note that on the pre-order page, your choices are saved on the system as soon as you select them – there is no need to click ‘save’. To confirm that the choice has been saved at the kitchens end, the title bar for the day will turn green.
Pre-orders can be made up to 8.59am on the day you are ordering for, there is no charge for cancelling orders at any time, and you will not be charged for pre-orders unless your child actually eats.
- Paying for your School Meal
There a few of ways you can pay for your school meal.
E-Payments using credit / debit card – Log into your pre-order account on ‘Live Kitchen’ and click on “Account” then “Make Card Payment” and follow the on screen instructions to make a payment using your credit / debit card
Direct Debit – Log into your pre-order account on ‘Live Kitchen’ and click on “Account”, then “Direct Debit”, and follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade your account to Direct Debit payments.
Free School Meals – If your child is in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 they are eligible to receive Universal Free School Meals. These will automatically be debited from their account. If your child is in Year 3 – 6 go to our Free School Meals page to see if your child is eligible.
- Allergen Protection System
Dolce and ‘Live Kitchen’ have worked together to create an “allergen protection system”. The new features are unique in the catering industry and allow you to log in, tick specific allergens for your children and have unsuitable choices (including fillings) disabled when pre-ordering at home or in class.
If Dolce change a recipe or if their food suppliers alter their ingredients, their system will automatically cancel the unsuitable order and email you to let you know.
At lunchtime the system will tell the cook which sides and desserts are unsuitable for your child.
