- Trainee Doctor - Ambition Assembly
Old Park are aiming high and thinking about our value of ambition. Thanks to the trainee doctors for talking to our children about their chosen career.
- Wednesbury Learning Community Football Tournament (Boys)
Another day of football and this time the sun shone! Well done to our boys team, they shared 3rd place today. Congratulations to Harvills the tournament winners. A shout out to the Wood Green Academy students who took on the referee duties yesterday and today – thanks everyone.
- Wednesbury Learning Community Football Tournament (Girls)
Very proud of these two teams, they participated in the Wednesbury Learning Community Football Tournament today and were great ambassadors for the school. One team came in at the last minute to ensure the tournament could run as planned. They showed Monty’s values throughout and thoroughly enjoyed their day. One of our teams progressed to the final and came runners up. Congratulations to Wood Green Juniors for their win and to all the schools involved – a real celebration of girls football
- Year 1's History Experience - Beach Day
Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful 50’s themed beach day to support their History knowledge.
- Year 5/6 Netball Team
A huge congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 Netball team. They competed against other teams in Sandwell and got to the final match of the day. They narrowly missed winning the competition, but have earned themselves a place in the Black Country Netball Competition. Good luck – you have demonstrated our ambition and perseverance values superbly!
- Public Speaking Event - Sandwell
We are very proud of these two representing Old Park at Wednesbury’s Public Speaking Competition today. They spoke at the Council Chambers with very important local VIP judges. The boys spoke knowledgably and with passion about the pros and cons of technology. We came first in the Y3/4 category.

- Girls' Cricket Tournament
These girls attended the Y5 & 6 Cricket Tournament. They played 4 games in total and came 3rd overall. Well done, girls – you did brilliantly and demonstarted all of our school avalues.
- Animal Encounter
The children in middle phase had an amazing time being brave with the animals today. They learnt about them and met them up close and personal. Meet a few of our Old Park guests…
- Key Stage 2 Public Speaking Competition
An excellent public speaking event held today! The staff judges were overwhelmed with the quality of speeches delivered. The children’s ambition, perseverance and love of learning shone through. Two representatives will take their speeches based on ‘the impact of technology on our lives’ to the Wednesbury event held later in the month!
- Clic Sargent Fundraiser
- We have had an amazing Clic Sargent celebration assembly today. This year we raised a fantastic £1,288. The total raised over the past 15 years is £27,845. Thank you to everyone who has helped us raise this incredible amount. Claire, our Clic Sargent Ambassador and Rina, Rahul’s mom were overwhelmed by the school’s kindness and perserverance.
- Year 5 History Experience Day
Year 5 spent a half-term learning about the history of The Vikings. They were lucky enough to take part in a History Experience Day based on their learning.
- Autism Awareness Week
Year 1 and Year 4 have taken part in class workshops as part of World Autism Acceptance Week. The children demonstrated our ‘diversity’ and ‘kindness’ values and asked some fantastic questions throughout the sessions.
- Wood Green Dance and Gym Festival
A huge congratulations to Old Park’s Dance Team, who represented our school at tonight’s WGA Gym and Dance Festival. They demonstrated Monty’s values of optimism, perseverance, ambition and responsibility. We are super proud of you all!
- Author Visit - Steve Skidmore
Lots of fun and laughter in school today with our visiting author. Thanks to Steve Skidmore for sharing his stories, answering questions and talking about his experiences. Big thanks also to Mrs Westwood for organising the day and our reading ambassadors for their help.
- Sandwell Sport Leader Training
Children from Years 4, 5 and 6 had a great time this week at Tipton Sports Academy where they completed the Sandwell Playground Leaders training! Well done
- Key Stage 1 Pentathlon
A number of children in Key Stage 1 (and Monty) represented our school in a Pentathlon, organised by Wolverhamptons’s Partnerships and School Sport.
- Walsall Dance Festival 22
A huge
congratulationsto Old Park’s dance team who performed at the Walsall Arena & Arts Centre as part of the Black Country Dance Hub Festival. They performed a dance piece, which incorporated a series of Makaton signs.
They performed with confidence and excellence and we are incredibly proud of them for representing all of Old Park’s values.- Visiting Author - Alan McDonald
The children in Years 1 – 6 had an amazing day completing workshops with the Dirty Bertie author, Alan MacDonald. Our reading ambassadors even presented him with his award for his book ‘ Nappy the Pirate Boy’.
Thanks to everyone who queued to get their books signed, Alan was overwhelmed by the number of children that came to the signing.
- History Experience Days
At the end of our history learning journeys, children take part in a History Experience Day, where they are provided with a chance to apply the historical knowledge they have learnt in a fun and exciting way.
- Exploration Days
Each term, we provide children with the opportunity to explore a range of activities that are additional to their curriculum learning. Children choose which activities they would like to experience and spend a full day exploring and building skills. Activities range from making bug hotels to learning basic ukulele skills to candle making.

Year 5 and 6 have had a visit from our local MP, Shaun Bailey. He was very impressed with our children’s love of learning as he was asked some excellent questions during the session.

We have just completed our Spring clubs and the children have enjoyed these experiences.
Musical Theatre Club
Year 6 pupils have enjoyed their ‘Matilda: The Musical’ rehearsals and took pride in their final piece, performing to their parents. Here are our ‘Revolting Children’…

Our Sport Ambassadors have worked hard alongside Mrs Johnson to arrange our ‘Park Run’ events.

- Old Park's Book Exchange
- Transform our World Project
Our Year 4 children were lucky enough to take part in a project called Transform Our World. During a 10 week period, children discussed how they could help to make positive changes to our environment. They then worked as a team to make these changes real! Mr Ellis and Mr Jones kindly built raised beds for the children to plant a range of fruits. They had the responsibility to ensure they grow and are healthy. Children also made bird boxes and bug hotels and placed them around one of our forest school areas. Well done, Year 4 – what a positive impact on the environment you have had!
